Understanding SSI benefits
SSI provides monthly financial benefits to disabled adults and children, as well as the elderly. The payment under Supplemental income benefits increased in 2023 due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (COLA) from the third quarter of 2021 to the third quarter of 2022.

SSI Benefits Qualification
SSI is a government-funded program aimed to help the needfuls and hence is regulated by certain eligibility requirements to avoid its exploitation. To be eligible for SSI benefits, you must meet all of the following requirements:

What is the SSI Payment Schedule?
SSI payments are usually made on the first of each month during the fiscal year. If that date falls on a federal holiday or on a weekend, SSI payments are delayed until the next business day. The regular SSI payment schedule then follows the set pattern in the subsequent month. Because November 1, 2023, falls on a Wednesday, payments will be made only on that day.

Will SSI get a Fourth Stimulus Check?
The Senior Citizens League, a nonpartisan advocacy group, called on the government to issue a one-time stimulus check of $1,400 to Social Security recipients. Following the initial stimulus checks, some lawmakers pushed for another, but the decision on dispersal is pending.
However, according to unofficial reports, a fourth stimulus check is unlikely to be distributed to Social Security recipients before the end of the year. There are currently no discussions about stimulus funds, so Social Security recipients should not expect a $1,400 check.
The SSA has announced that the stimulus payments will not be counted toward eligibility or payment of SSI benefits. Because SSI recipients typically have few resources and limited income, they are likely to qualify for full stimulus payments.
