All We Know

PIP is intended for individuals in England, Northern Ireland, or Wales. Those residing in Scotland should apply for Adult Disability Payment instead. A new claim can be initiated by calling the DWP at 0800 917 2222 to apply for PIP. If necessary, someone else can make the call on the applicant’s behalf, provided the applicant is present during the call. After initiating the claim, a form will be sent to the applicant for completion.

Once the form is submitted, the applicant will be invited to an assessment, which could take place in person or online. Apart from all these, extra details might be requested from the applicant’s health or social care worker.

Based on the assessment, the applicant will be assigned a score reflecting their ability to perform certain tasks. This score will determine their eligibility for PIP and the amount of money they will get. The outcome, including the score and whether the claim has been successful, will be communicated in a letter from the DWP.
